Our printing process

Made layer by layer, right here in Alberta

Every Crafting Hub piece is printed fresh when you order it, then checked and finished by hand. Nothing sits in a warehouse, and nothing leaves our studio until we'd be happy to keep it ourselves.

  • 🖨️ Printed to order
  • 🔍 Checked by hand
  • ♻️ Failed prints recycled
Every piece is built from hundreds of fine layers of melted filament, one on top of the next.

The printer

Why we print on the Bambu Lab P2S

The P2S is a fully enclosed, high-speed printer. The enclosure keeps the temperature around each print steady, which means cleaner layers, fewer warped edges and the ability to print tougher materials like PETG and ASA that open-frame printers struggle with.

Its precise, fast motion system lets us hold sharp detail on small features, like the ears on a sculpture or the lettering on a personalized gift, without slowing everything down. That's how we can print every order fresh and still ship in 1–3 business days.

  • Enclosed build chamber for steady temperatures and clean surfaces
  • Fast, precise motion for crisp detail and quick turnaround
  • Handles PLA, PETG and ASA so each piece gets the right material
  • Run in our own studio in Alberta, Canada

From idea to your door

Six steps behind every piece

  1. 1

    Design & test

Each design is modelled, then test-printed and adjusted until it looks and fits right. Only then does it go in the shop.

  2. 2

    Dial in the settings

We tune layer height, supports, infill and orientation for every design, so detail is sharp where it matters and the piece is strong where it needs to be.

  3. 3

    Print fresh

Your order is printed after you buy it, in the colour you choose. Depending on size, a print can take anywhere from under an hour to a full day.

  4. 4

    Inspect

Every piece is checked by hand for layer shifts, gaps, stringing and rough spots. Anything that doesn't pass is reprinted, not shipped.

  5. 5

    Finish by hand

Supports are removed, edges cleaned up and any parts assembled. Small touches, done one piece at a time.

  6. 6

    Pack & ship

Carefully packed to arrive safely, and on its way within 1–3 business days to anywhere in Canada or the USA.

Attention to detail

The small things we don't skip

Every piece inspected

No batch spot-checks. Each item is looked over by hand before it's packed.

🧪

Test prints first

New designs are printed and refined before you ever see them in the shop.

⚙️

Tuned per design

Settings are adjusted for each piece rather than one setting for everything.

✨

Clean finishing

Supports removed and edges tidied so it looks good from every angle.

Less waste

Failed prints don't go in the trash

Even with careful setup, 3D printing has misprints, support material and test pieces. We collect all of it, including failed prints, supports, purge scraps and test parts, and send it to be recycled instead of the landfill.

  • Recycled, not landfilled: failed prints and scraps are collected for recycling
  • Printed to order: no overstock sitting around or thrown out
  • Plant-based PLA is our everyday material
  • Right material, longer life: PETG and ASA for pieces that need to last

Our materials

The right material for the job

PLA

Our everyday material

Environmentally friendly and plant-based, with crisp detail and rich colour. Used for decor, sculptures, keychains and most gifts.

PETG

When it needs to be tougher

Stronger and more resistant to impact and moisture. Used for parts that get handled, bumped or washed.

ASA

Built for the outdoors

Stands up to sun, heat and weather without fading or going soft. Used for outdoor pieces and demanding parts.

Good to know

Are the layer lines a flaw?

No. Fine layer lines are a natural part of 3D printing and show up most when you look closely or in raking light. They're how every piece is built, not a defect.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Very close. Because each item is printed individually, tiny variations in texture or colour shade between batches of filament are normal and make each piece one of a kind.

How long does it take?

Most orders are printed, finished and shipped within 1–3 business days. Custom orders get a timeline with your quote.

What if something isn't right when it arrives?

Contact us with your order number and a photo. If it arrived damaged or isn't right, we'll reprint it or refund you.

Can you print my own idea?

Yes! We do personalized gifts, custom designs and functional parts. Start a custom order and we'll reply within a day.
